Upload Wizard Help
The Upload Wizard uploads the contents of a folder from your computer to SharePoint. To use the Upload Wizard, follow these steps:
- Start the Upload Wizard by double-clicking on the Upload Wizard icon:

- Select the source folder on your computer.
- Click Check Files to for files that will be renamed or that might be too large to upload quickly.
- Click the Next> button.
- Enter the address of the target web site and the name of the target document library.
- Click Upload Files to begin the upload.
If you need to stop the upload process once it begins, click Stop Upload.
Important Points
- Some file names allowed in Windows aren't allowed on the web. Characters like & and # have special meaning, so the Upload Wizard automatically renames files that use those characters in their names.
- If a file can't be uploaded for some reason, the Upload Wizard reports the problem and continues uploading other files.
- The Wizard uploads the contents of sub-folders up to seven levels deep. If you used a very deep file structure, consider reorganizing your files before putting them in SharePoint. The maximum length of a URL in SharePoint is 260 characters, so you may not be able to reproduce your current folder structure in SharePoint.
